Amsterdam Historical Museum

We did a day trip to the Amsterdam Historical Museum. I took some pictures of medieval leatherwork finds from the Bogs in the Netherlands since in tact leatherwork is rare from that period and I. I was pleased and half surpised to see such widespread use of the tooling of leather. I have been told, by people who should know better, that this was not done in period. See for yourself.
Also, lot's of great sample so turn shoes and boots here.

Dutch power really came into it's own in the late period and most of the museum is focused on that. I found the maritime displays interesting and worthwhile, but nothing that I really felt motivated to photograph.

Holidays in Amsterdam, and the Rijksmuseum

Here are some pictures with holiday lights around Amsterdam and from the Rijksmuseum.

Have a look at this Rembrant from the left, and then this view from the right, and notice that no matter where you stand the eyes appear to be staring right at you.

Most of the Rijksmuseum is closed right now due to renovations. The part that is open only takes about and hour to run through.
